KNIT TIGHT
Short film created using Autodesk Maya and Substance Painter, composited with After Effects.

 Knit Tight is a short film about a man meeting a spider and forging a strange bond.        





I started with creating setting shots that would establish a mood with color, lighting, and composition. In order to make something a bit spooky, using high contrast lighting in these mockups was crucial in order to emphasize the lighter areas.

 The ultimate goal was to ask this question: what could be lurking in the dark?

The twist to achieve with the story was, though it may be scary, things are not always what they seem. The unknown is not always benevolent. Sometimes, it is something sweet and inviting; a new journey to discover!

3D animatic

The storyboard and animatic encompass that: the scary thing lurking in the dark is... actually really nice. The wholesome twist of the spider, just knitting alone, with the explorer joining them in the end, enabled the story to really push those themes of the sweet unknown.
